genius and i were very young and impressionable

anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn't he danced his did

Women and men(both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn't they reaped their same
sun moon stars rain

children guessed(but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more

when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her

someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
(sleep wake hope and then)they
said their nevers they slept their dream

stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)

one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was

all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.

Women and men(both dong and ding)
summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
sun moon stars rain

i can create
with words
what i cannot create
with paint
or sound
or song

i can tap
on these keys
and utter things

like
peanut butter is better
than bullets brain bean bags
oh so many floating bugs up
oh so many floating bugs done

i can
like
single sort smallish man marks
make simple and sluggish sparks

i can
like
"hey now, whatcha go and do that for?"
and

- N - O - W - A - D - A - Y - S -

because truth be known

i
am lazy
and

this

is easy

you

you

women are the death of me
he said to the shrink
who nodded and noted
that the session was over
women are the death of me
he said to the bar tender
who nodded and noted
that it was ten past closing
women are the death of me
he said to the cop
who nodded and noted
the time of the traffic citation
women are the death of me
he said to his wife
who nodded and noted
that the chamber was full
and the trigger was
oh
so
easy
to pull

"There!" Armando said as the massive granite slab slid into place, the final piece of a larger puzzle called the Hopkins family kitchen counters.
"It is good."
Mr. Hopkins looked over the installation and frowned.
"But the sink is miss-cut and the seam is too visible" he replied.
"Not really. It is only that way if you look at life like a series of events conspiring against your happiness. Actually, everything is fine."
"Oh, I see" said Hopkins.

Ten years later, when his daughter was rushed to the hospital after a suicide attempt, Mr. Hopkins realized that Armando had lied.

write me
darling
i have no letters
just these memories
write me
and tell me your name
put pen to paper
the old fashioned way
and tell me
your stories
tell me
about your new job
how your car
has broken down
how you like
that restaurant on the corner
and what your favorite
new song might be
you see
i have no letters
just these fading moments
these fleeting thoughts
these bits of mental magic
before i
like the breeze
have moved on

I turned my space telescope
toward you
high up here above this planet
I turned my attention
to your heart
and what I saw
made me sad
it's lonely and cold out here
it's far, far away from where you are
I can increase magnification
I can rearrange the diopters
I can use the earth's gravity
to make light bend ever so slightly
but you
I cannot change
You
I cannot help
You
are on your own
